Die italienischen Hügel haben unterschiedliche Ursprünge.
Es gibt:
Moränenhügel, gebildet durch die Ansammlung von Trümmern, die von Gletschern transportiert werden;
vulkanische Hügel, die nichts anderes als die Überreste antiker erloschener Vulkane sind, abgerundet durch Erosion;
sedimentäre oder tektonische Hügel, die durch das Anheben des Meeresbodens entstanden sind;
strukturelle Hügel, d. h. alte Berge, die durch atmosphärische Einflüsse erodiert wurden. Die Hügel in Norditalien liegen hauptsächlich zwischen den Alpen und der Poebene. Der Ursprung der Hügel, die sich in diesem Teil befinden, ist Moräne. Norditalien im Piemont sind: die Langhe und
das Monferrato. Beide Hügel sind berühmt für die Weine, die dort produziert werden. in der Lombardei, in Brianza und in Venetien: das Berici-Gebirge und die Eugenischen Hügel. Die Hügel in Mittelitalien befinden sich hauptsächlich an den Seiten des Apennins. Die Chianti-Hügel, berühmt für den Wein, der dort hergestellt wird, die metallhaltigen Hügel, die reich an Metallen sind, und in der Region Latium die Albaner. Die Hügel Süditaliens sind nicht sehr regelmäßig angeordnet. Die Hügel, die wir in Süditalien finden Sie haben nicht alle einen gemeinsamen Ursprung, zeichnen sich jedoch vor allem durch das Vorhandensein eines tonigen und trockenen Bodens aus, der leicht Erdrutschen ausgesetzt ist. Die wichtigsten Hügel Süditaliens befinden sich in Apulien und sind: der Gargano; der Murge Hügel sind sie auch in Insel Italien vorhanden. In Sizilien kommen sie hauptsächlich im südlichen Teil der Insel vor. Auf Sardinien machen die Hügel 68% des Territoriums aus.
